CNN reported, "SpongeBob SquarePants gay? Nickelodeon just reinforced that theory."
What CNN failed to report is Nickelodeon's audience is down from 1.3 million 4 years ago to just 372,000 now.
The network's problem begs the question, which comes first? Going broke or getting woke?
To stop its ratings slide, the network is bringing back Rugrats, this time with a lesbian mom in the carpool. And this month, the network is going all-in on Gay Pride Month. There was no coincidence that LGBTQ chose June, the traditional month for traditional marriage.
It is like placing Earth Day on Lenin's Birthday.
The LGBTQ movement is targeting children. They keep co-opting children's characters. Bert and Ernie. Tinky Winky of Teletubbies. Now, SpongeBob, even though the creator of the series deliberately made SpongeBob asexual.
LGBTQ Nation reported, "Rocko’s Modern Life has a reputation for putting 'how did they get away with that' jokes on kids’ TV, from an oblique reference to phone sex lines to multiple masturbation jokes. But the show also pushed the boundaries of queer inclusion, with a 1996 episode that’s a clear metaphor for coming out of the closet — and a 2019 Netflix special that features a trans character in a pivotal role."
Pushing the boundaries?
Try indoctrination.
Megan Basham of the Daily Wire wrote, "In the last two weeks, both Nickelodeon and its preschool-targeted network, Nick Jr., have released videos championing trans, queer, and pansexual inclusion. One video that sparked mass outrage depicted a cartoon version of drag queen Nina West singing about various LGBTQIA groups 'loving each other so proudly on Blues Clues and You, a show for two- to five-year-olds. That same video showed a female-to-male transgender beaver who appeared to have post-operative surgical scars on its chest."
Beaver.
That is as subtle as a lawnmower on Sunday morning.
Whatever happened to fun? Why does everything have to be indoctrination? We cancel-cultured Pepe Le Pew, but we have to have tolerate drag queens and transgendered beavers. That's some inclusion there.
Parents are noticing.
Basham pointed to a story at the Pirates and Princesses web site, "Viacom Struggles with Paramount+ and Nickelodeon While Disney Pulls Away."
ViacomCBS owns Nickelodeon.
The story said, "Since July of 2017, Nickelodeon’s viewership has dropped from 1.3 million average viewers per week to a June of 2021 average of only 372,000. In only four years, Nickelodeon has dropped more than two thirds of its audience. That is catastrophically bad for the cable channel, but with cable on the way out, maybe it’s not so bad? The catch here is that it is, in fact, that bad and perhaps worse, simply because Nickelodeon seems to be the primary driving force behind new subscribers to Paramount+."
Disney is no prize but so far it has protected its cartoons from LGBTQ. Childhood is tough enough without sexualizing it.
Parents know this and it looks like almost a million are protecting their kids by flipping Nickelodeon off.
