CNN ran a holiday roundup story, "At least 150 people fatally shot in more than 400 shootings over the Fourth of July weekend."
To illustrate the story, CNN showed a white family of four, which is odd considering most of the carnage was inner city.
The father in the picture, Gene Siller, was a golf pro who was shot and killed on the golf course. His death rated a full-length separate story.
None of the 16 people shot and killed in Chicago over the weekend rated such coverage. Most (if not all) were black people. The word black did not appear in the CNN report.
Corporate media has moved on from promoting Black Lives Matter, now that President Donald John Trump is no longer in the White House. The media believes its five-year mission to stop a Trump presidency is over.
The CNN story promoted a site, Gun Violence Archive, that claims to run a continual count of shootings and gun homicides nationally. This is similar to the covid-o-meter. I suppose the GVA stats will run until guns are outlawed and only outlaws have guns.
The New York Post picked up on GVA's numbers. It is an easy-peasy story to do on a slow holiday weekend. The Post did not use the word black to describe any victims.
The New York Daily News also picked up on GVA. It said 10,236 people were murdered by guns this year. Given that 46.9% of murder victims are black, I would dare speculate that black murders exceeded the 4,400 black lynchings between 1877 and 1950.
In a story in May based on GVA numbers, the New York Times said "mass shootings" were rising. It is defined as four or more people shot. A typical weekend in Chicago has a couple of them.
Again, the word black never appeared in that report because black lives no longer matter to the media, not that they much did.
In Chicago, nearly 5 out of 6 murders go unsolved. That's because the victims are black. Fox reported a year ago that in the previous decade, "Black homicide victims accounted for 4,374 of the city's murders, according to figures provided by the Chicago Police Department to Fox News. The second-largest group impacted by gun violence -- Hispanics and Black Hispanics -- totaled 785 murder victims over the same period."
Less than one-third of Chicagoans are black. More than two-thirds of the crime victims in the morgue are black.
The media may uppercase black in reports now, but it really does not care that black people are being slaughtered in urban America. Police and black politicians don't care either. Race-baiters such as Al Sharpton are too busy pushing reparations to be bothered with keeping black people alive.
BLM used black people to push communism, and to raise money so BLM leaders could buy million-dollar homes in overwhelmingly white neighborhoods.
It is a shame about Gene Siller because he seemed like a decent guy who left behind a young family.
The bigger shame is that the lives of so many black men and women -- and boys and girls -- are snuffed out each day and no one seems to give a damn.
