When protesters took to the streets of Havana to demand food and other basics on Sunday, the Associated Press did not blame 62 years of communist rule for the shortages. Indeed, AP never mentioned communism.
Instead, AP in its second paragraph blamed Donald John Trump.
AP wrote, "Sunday’s protests marked some of the biggest displays of antigovernment sentiment in the tightly controlled country in years. Cuba is going through its worst economic crisis in decades, along with a resurgence of coronavirus cases, as it suffers the consequences of U.S. sanctions imposed by former President Donald Trump’s administration."
Orange Man Bad reporting is a permanent affliction upon the nation.
The fact is, we imposed an embargo on Cuba for most of the last 60 years. Somehow, Cuba survived. Obama lifted them in exchange for nothing. President Trump re-imposed them.
Then there is the border crisis. Since Biden took office, millions of undesirables have overrun our Mexican border.
Six months into Biden's border bungling, NBC blames Donald Trump.
NBC reported, "Trump's border security theater hasn't ended — it's gotten worse. Now GOP governors are sending National Guard members to Texas and Arizona as political props."
Huh?
Who does Comcast, owner of the once reliable news agency, believe it is fooling.
The story said, "It's an understatement to say that these recent developments are all about the toxic politics of immigration here in the U.S. rather than actual security needs or solutions to real problems. When Trump first signed an order to deploy National Guard troops to the southern border, it was at a time when border crossings were at their lowest since 1971, according to Customs and Border Protection statistics. But immigration fearmongering was central to his governing philosophy, such as it was, and emergencies require action."
That low was reached via Donald Trump's policies. Under Obama, the border was as porous as ever before. After a couple of years of President Trump, border crossings hit a 47-year low.
You know who else sent their national guard to protect the American border?
Mexico.
Reuters reported on June 24, 2019, "Mexico has deployed almost 15,000 soldiers and National Guard in the north of the country to stem the flow of illegal immigration across the border into the United States, the head of the Mexican Army said on Monday."
Then there is inflation, which has doubled in just five months under Biden.
It is not just the media that scapegoats The Donald.
Market Watch reported, "U.S. manufacturers blame Trump-era tariffs for inflation’s rise."
Are they nuts?
Tariffs did no such thing.
Inflation was at its lowest in 50 years under Donald Trump.
In fact, he had the best Misery Index (the unemployment rate plus the inflation rate) of any president measured. (The measurement began with Truman.)
Trump's index number averaged 6.60 despite the pandemic panic. It was 8.06 when Trump left.
Biden pushed it to 11.3 last month. With the exception of a few months during the pandemic when governors shut down the economy, we have not witnessed a double-digit average for a president in 32 years.
President Trump was the most successful president when it came to the economy and border control.
Biden foolishly wants to undo everything President Trump accomplished.
And the press is more than willing to accommodate Biden because nobody in the press will man up and admit he was wrong about Donald Trump.
