Incremental change is difficult to see. The other day, I mentioned conservative success on the concealed carry front. States that 35 years ago banned concealed carry altogether began saying police may issue permits. Then it became saying police shall issue permits. Now 19 states say to hell with permits. Carry them if you've got them.
That is a huge victory that reflects a change in public attitudes. It was a long slog that went state-by state. It still is not over.
Moving more quickly is the Second Amendment sanctuary movement. Already, 1,930 counties are warning the feds not try to get Johnny's gun.
The Second Amendment's revival has Marxists running scared. Josef Biden the other day threatened to nuke us.
His exact words were, "The Second Amendment, from the day it was passed, limited the type of people who could own a gun and what type of weapon you could own. You couldn’t buy a cannon. Those who say the blood of lib- — ‘the blood of patriots,’ you know, and all the stuff about how we’re going to have to move against the government. Well, the tree of liberty is not watered with the blood of patriots.
"What’s happened is that there have never been — if you wanted or if you think you need to have weapons to take on the government, you need F-15s and maybe some nuclear weapons."
But guns are not the only issue where conservatives are making progress. The public now sides with conservatives on voter ID, abortion, and critical race theory.
During her run for governor in 2018, Stacey Abrams claimed voter ID was rayyyyyyyycist.
The Hill reported on October 14, 2018, "Stacey Abrams, the Democrat candidate for Georgia governor, said Sunday that the state's voter ID law, which has put tens of thousands of voter registration applications on hold, is designed to 'scare people out of voting.'
"'This is simply a redux of a failed system that is designed to both scare people out of voting and make it harder for those who are willing to push through, make it harder for them to vote,' Abrams said on CNN.
"Abrams was asked about the 53,000 voter registration applications, mostly from black voters, that have been put on hold for failing to meet the state’s exact match law."
She also said of voter ID, "It is a redux of Jim Crow, in a suit and tie."
That was then.
This is now.
Via Fox, Abrams said, "That's one of the fallacies of Republican talking points that have been deeply disturbing. No one has ever objected to having to prove who you are to vote. It's been part of our nation's history since the inception of voting."
Then there is critical race theory, an academic religion that holds America was founded on slavery and racism. In September, President Trump issued an executive order that stops any diversity and inclusion training interpreted as containing “Divisive Concepts,” “Race or Sex Stereotyping,” and “Race or Sex Scapegoating.”
Liberals are outraged.
Normal Americans have awakened to CRT. Coke faced a profound backlash in February when in its diversity program it told employees "try to be less white."
I suggest Coke go back to teaching the world to sing, in perfect harmony.
Then there are transgendered rights, which apparently allow boys to take over and dominate girls sports. Soccer moms don't like it. Florida became the latest state to ban it.
The abortion fight is about to happen, likely next year as enough states have placed enough restrictions on abortions to warrant a re-visit of Roe v. Wade. That showdown is a long time in coming.
It is easy to become discouraged by media reports.
Don't buy it.
We are in the fight of our lives but if we keep working and keep praying for America, we will prevail.
