ITEM 1: The Akron Beacon Journal reported, "What at first blush appeared to be a short audio malfunction at Monday's Memorial Day ceremony in Markillie Cemetery turned out to be anything but.
"A ceremony organizer turned off the microphone when the event's keynote speaker, retired Army Lt. Col. Barnard Kemter, began sharing a story about freed Black slaves honoring deceased soldiers shortly after the end of the Civil War.
"The microphone was turned down for about two minutes in the middle of Kemter's 11-minute speech during the event hosted by the Hudson American Legion Lee-Bishop Post 464."
What in the Dickens is wrong with people?
The former slaves recognized the sacrifices Northerners made on their behalf and were grateful.
Organizers read his speech beforehand and asked him to modify that portion. He declined.
Kemter told the newspaper later, "I find it interesting that [the American Legion] … would take it upon themselves to censor my speech and deny me my First Amendment right to speech. … This is not the same country I fought for."
I thank him for defying the pinheads.
ITEM 2: Yahoo reported, "A 35-man fishing crew working off Yemen netted the find of a lifetime when they hauled in about $1.5 million worth of whale vomit.
"Whale vomit is also known as ambergris and is an odorous substance found only in the digestive systems of sperm whales. According to the UK's Natural History Museum, the substance is often called the treasure of the sea and floating gold because of how rare it is.
"Ambergris is particularly valuable for its use making perfumes' scents last longer. According to National Geographic, Chanel and Lanvin use ambergris in some of their high-end scents."
OK, here is my plan.
We get a boat, a barrel of syrup of ipecac, and go hunting for a whale...
ITEM 3: The Associated Press reported, "Crews on Thursday removed the concrete barriers that blocked traffic at a Minneapolis intersection where a memorial to George Floyd was assembled after his death last year, but community activists quickly put up makeshift barriers and resumed chanting the name of the black man whose [death] galvanized the [anti-police] movement.
"It took the crews led by a community group known as Agape less than four hours to clear the barriers, artwork, flowers and other items from 38th Street and Chicago Avenue where Floyd was killed, informally known as George Floyd Square. City spokeswoman Sarah McKenzie said a fist sculpture, which stands several feet tall, will remain.
"The intersection had been closed to traffic since Floyd’s death in police custody on May 25, 2020, but some residents and businesses expressed frustration that it had been closed for so long.
"Traffic briefly flowed through the intersection Thursday morning after the concrete barriers were removed, but community members quickly erected new makeshift barriers. Dozens of people gathered near the intersection, singing, chanting Floyd’s name and giving speeches expressing frustration and urging people to continue organizing."
This is anarchy.
Hamas-Shielding AP also reported, "Jaylani Hussein, executive director of the Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said the removal of the memorial was an attack on Floyd’s legacy."
His legacy is that of dying of a drug overdose, and being used to promote Defund the Police, a policy that led to a rise in violent crimes and more murders of black men.
ITEM 4: The New York Post reported, "Psaki calls Fauci ‘undeniable asset’ after Chinese lab leak emails."
Chairman Xi agrees.
ITEM 5: Breitbart reported, "Appearing Thursday on the Fox News Channel’s America’s Newsroom, Adm. Brett Giroir, former White House coronavirus testing czar, said there is no data to support Dr. Anthony Fauci’s claim of the coronavirus evolving from nature."
Tony is no doctor.
He is a politician.
He belongs in prison.
ITEM 6: Breitbart also reported, "Disgraced former Rep. Katie Hill (D-CA) has been ordered to pay $220,000 in legal fees to three parties she sued, accusing them of violating California’s revenge porn statutes.
" 'On Wednesday, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Yolanda Orozco awarded about $105,000 to the parent company of the Daily Mail,' the far-left Los Angeles Times reported. 'Orozco previously ordered Hill to pay about $84,000 to the attorneys of … [the] managing editor of … Red State, and about $30,000 to lawyers representing radio producer Joseph Messina.'
"After winning a GOP-held congressional seat in 2018, Hill was amplified by the corporate media and Democrats as a burgeoning political superstar, primarily because she is openly bisexual, which is another historic first, or something.
"It all came crashing down the following year after Red State and the Daily Mail published photos and texts in an effort to prove Hill had an affair with a male subordinate who worked in her congressional office, as well as an earlier affair that included her now ex-husband with a female campaign worker, another subordinate, starting in 2017 and lasting until after she was elected in 2018."
Ah yes. Congresswoman Hill, D-Throuple.
Huge win for the First Amendment.
ITEM 7: The Associated Press reported, "An extremely rare wildflower that grows only in Nevada’s high desert where an Australian mining company wants to dig for lithium should be protected under the Endangered Species Act, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service said Thursday. The conclusion announced on Thursday that federal protection is warranted could jeopardize Ioneer Ltd.’s plans to build the mine halfway between Reno and Las Vegas."
So what?
Why are we protecting an insignificant flower.
This is just more of the anti-capitalism that Democrats and the deep state embrace.
ITEM 8: The New York Post reported, "Biden to meet Queen Elizabeth at Windsor Castle next weekend."
Advice to Her Majesty: Count the silverware, and don't let anyone under 21 near him.
ITEM 9: Fox News 13 reported, "Salt Lake City School Board member Joél-Léhi Organista was arrested Wednesday night on eight counts of sexual exploitation of a minor over his alleged ownership of child pornography.
"Police wrote Organista, 29, possessed pornographic images of children. One video reportedly depicted an adult male and five-year-old girl.
"Officials were led to Organista through a CyberTipLine report provided by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. A Dropbox account owned by Organista and connected to his Salt Lake County address contained at least five images or videos containing child pornography, the probable cause affidavit states."
He was elected last fall as a reform candidate.
The story also said, "Organista taught health at Horizonte High School, as well as English abroad and online, and served as Vice President of Youth at the League of United Latin American Citizens until the organization suspended him Thursday."
Yikes.
ITEM 10: CNBC reported, "United Airlines is planning to turn the friendly skies into the ultrafast skies with the addition of supersonic jets.
"The carrier announced Thursday it’s buying 15 planes from Boom Supersonic with the option to purchase 35 more at some point.
"Boom’s first commercial supersonic jet, the Overture, has not been built or certified yet. It is targeting the start of passenger service in 2029 with a plane that could fly at Mach 1.7 and cut some flight times in half. That means a flight from New York to London that typically lasts seven hours would only take 3½ hours."
Better get them now before all the planes go electric. No one has an extension cord 4,000 miles long.
ITEM 11: Newsweek reported, "Seven high school football coaches have been fired from McKinley Senior High School in Canton, Ohio on Thursday following an incident in which a Jewish student athlete was forced to eat a pepperoni pizza as a punishment for missing a team weight lifting session.
"The Canton City School Board announced in a press release that following an internal investigation, Coach Marcus Wattley and six of the seven assistant coaches involved in the incident have been fired."
Who does things like that?
Canton McKinley's football team is legendary and a reason the Pro Football Hall of Fame is in that city.
Goodness gracious those coaches are stupid.
Go, Massillon.
ITEM 12: Reuters reported, "An Australian court on Friday ordered a dozen media firms to pay a total of A$1.1 million ($842,270) in fines for breaching a suppression order on reporting the conviction of former Vatican treasurer George Pell for child sexual assault.
"The 12 media outlets, mostly owned by Nine Entertainment Co. and Rupert Murdoch's News Corp., pleaded guilty in February to breaching the gag order on reporting on the trial and conviction of the cardinal, after the state agreed to drop all charges against journalists and editors.
"Supreme Court of Victoria Justice John Dixon convicted the media firms saying they had "frustrated the suppression order as they diminished its purpose or efficacy by reporting information contrary to the terms of the order".
"Pell's conviction for abusing two choirboys was overturned in April last year after he was jailed for more than a year. He was the most senior Catholic church official to have gone to prison for child sex assault.
"Reporting on Pell's trial and verdict in 2018 was gagged Australia-wide by the County Court of Victoria to ensure the cardinal received a fair trial on further charges he was due to face. Those charges were later dropped."
The news media is not a law unto itself.
The fine will have to be a thousand times that amount to prevent future flouting of a court order.
ITEM 13: NBC reported, "Former Vice President Mike Pence delivered his strongest comments yet about the Jan. 6 pro-Trump riot attack on the U.S. Capitol on Thursday, saying he and former President Donald Trump may never see eye to eye on the event.
" 'January 6 was a dark day in the history of the United States Capitol,' Pence said at the Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, Republican Committee's Lincoln-Reagan Dinner. 'But thanks to the swift action of the Capitol Police and federal law enforcement, violence was quelled, the Capitol was secured. And that same day we reconvened the Congress and did our duty under the Constitution and the laws of the United States'."
That swift action included shooting and killing an unarmed woman.
Pence said, "You know, President Trump and I have spoken many times since we left office. And I don't know if we'll ever see eye to eye on that day."
Why is this man bothering to run for the Republican nomination for president? He is Romney-lite, and dead to Trump supporters now.
ITEM 14: The New York Times alleged, "American intelligence officials have found no evidence that aerial phenomena witnessed by Navy pilots in recent years are alien spacecraft, but they still cannot explain the unusual movements that have mystified scientists and the military, according to senior administration officials briefed on the findings of a highly anticipated government report.
"The report determines that a vast majority of more than 120 incidents over the past two decades did not originate from any American military or other advanced U.S. government technology, the officials said. That determination would appear to eliminate the possibility that Navy pilots who reported seeing unexplained aircraft might have encountered programs the government meant to keep secret."
The UFOs are Chinese, and are used to spy on our military.
ITEM 15: Breitbart reported, "ESPN commentator Stephen A. Smith blasted the Boston Celtics for making Brad Stevens their new general manager, suggesting that Stevens got the job because he is white."
Well, Smith got his job because he is black.
That is the way Red China's NBA and Disney's ESPN roll.
ITEM 16: The Federalist reported, "AOC: We Can Reduce Violent Crime And Lower Incarceration Rates If We Stop Building Jails."
She said, "It is not acceptable for us to use jails as garbage bins for human beings. We need to treat people and see them as human. If we want to reduce violent crime, reduce the number of people in our jails, the answer is to stop building more of them."
I agree.
Stop building jails, and resume hanging rapists, murderers, and horse thieves. That will send criminals a message.
ITEM 17: Block Club Chicago reported, "The controversial late-night ban of alcohol sales at grocery and liquor stores introduced by Mayor Lori Lightfoot is going nowhere in City Council, an alderman said, and more officials are pushing back on the measure. Last week, Lightfoot proposed a package of reforms meant to help struggling businesses recover from the pandemic. Amid the proposal was a 10 p.m. curfew of beer, liquor and wine sales at stores with a packaged goods license, which would primarily be liquor, convenience and grocery stores."
Yes a curfew on buying booze would work because Chicago was so peaceful and quiet during Prohibition.
(Eyeroll.)
ITEM 18: Fishing News reported, "Why This Millionaire Investor Eats Five Cans Of Sardines Every Day."
Spoiler alert: Because he's hungry.
And nuts.
ITEM 19: I reported last night, "President Donald John Trump to Red China: You owe us $10 trillion for unleashing covid 19 upon the world."
Suing Red China for $10 trillion makes sense.
In fact, that should be the Republican platform in 2022: we will make Red China pay.
Fight the real enemy.
ITEM 20: Matt Taibbi, the lefty who occasionally agrees with us, wrote, "Congratulations, Elitists: Liberals and Conservatives Do Have Common Interests Now."
I like that he calls them elitists and not elites because the only things they are elite at is smugness.
Taibbi wrote, "The truth is, Trump conservatives and ACLU-raised liberals like myself, Greenwald, and millions of others do have real common cause, against an epistemic revolution taking hold in America’s political and media elite. The traditional liberal approach to the search for truth, which stresses skepticism and free-flowing debate, is giving way to a reactionary movement that Plato himself would have loved, one that believes knowledge is too dangerous for the rabble and must be tightly regulated by a priesthood of experts. It’s anti-democratic, un-American, and naturally unites the residents of even the most extreme opposite ends of our national political spectrum."
The DC Establishment is out of touch. Time to get them out of there.
ITEM 21: Hamas-Shielding AP wrote, "Trump’s grip on GOP sparks fears about democratic process."
Somehow the fact that most Republicans support Donald Trump threatens the democratic process. The article itself is nonsense about election audits, but the real purpose is that headline, which will appear in thousands of newspapers, re-confirming the anti-Trump bias of the few people who still bother with newspapers.
We elected Donald Trump president. The media never respected our decision. Now they dare bitch about our resistance, mild though it may be.
ITEM 22: I don't do many obits, but I could not allow this hero to go unnoticed.
Legacy reported, "F. Lee Bailey (1933–2021), defense attorney for Sam Sheppard, O.J. Simpson."
If you do not know the Sam Sheppard case, look it up. The media railroaded the guy for the killing of his wife. He did not. He did 10 years time before Bailey took the case to the U.S. Supreme Court, and won. There was a retrial, and Bailey cleared Sheppard's name.
Bailey also was a Marine jet fighter pilot.
Rest in peace.
FINALLY, a reader wrote that I missed an anniversary.
He said, "Today is the 54th anniversary of one of the saddest days of my life. I still have trouble dealing with it. Will probably do a toast tonight and try to remember the good times. What happened back on June 3, 1967, you ask? Well, it's the day Billy Joe McAlister jumped off the Tallahatchie bridge. And Bobbie Gentry was one good looking girl.
"PS. I bet if you report it, CNN will pick it up as a real event and blame Trump for the bridge not having had barriers to jumpers."
Well, it was the anniversary, but not the 54th.
I wrote back, "Actually, it was 1965.
"OK, we have the date. Song was recorded in March 1967. So that puts it to 1966 EXCEPT the song goes on to talk about the next spring.
"So that makes it 1965."
