Beware its sting. This month, Babylon Bee defeated the New York Times and Mailchimp.
The pelts may be puny but we are talking about a Christian satirical site, which is not exactly big media.
Its importance is that it mocks those who would be our overlords.
As I wrote on October 26, 2019, "In his Rules for Radicals, Saul D. Alinsky said, 'Ridicule is man's most potent weapon.'
"Conservatives finally have a site that masters that.
"Plus it is funny."
My second-favorite example is its story, "Multiple Sources Accuse Donald Duck Of Walking Onto Movie Sets Without Any Pants."
But I like better, "Calvinist Dog Corrects Owner: ‘No One Is A Good Boy.’"
Religion was the focus for the site when Adam Ford launched the Bee on March 1, 2016. But a jab at the left here, a jab at Trump there, and pretty soon the site was doing political satire as well.
Baptists, Catholics, and other denominations do not complain about being mocked. The only religion that complains is Marxism because these thin-skinned twits are more self-righteous than Carrie Nation, who took axes to bars in her campaign against booze. What Would Jesus Do?
Um, turn water into wine?
And so it is with the left. They are just as sure as she was. Just as sanctimonious. And just as wrong.
The leftist argument against Babylon Bee is that those stupid gullible conservatives believe the jokes. Snopes was the first Marxist site to take on Babylon Bee, ironically because it mistook the Bee's jokes for a news story.
Undeterred by its own ignorance, Snopes posted on August 16, 2019, "Study: Too Many People Think Satirical News Is Real."
Just why anyone would study that was not explained. People still get pranked on April 1.
Babylon Bee countered with its own fake study.
All went well with Snopes sniping the Bee and the Bee buzzing back. Several times, Snopes got Facebook to take down a Bee joke, only to have the Bee get Facebook to back down.
Then the New York Times entered the picture and tried to silence the Bee by labeling it a misinformation site. NYT's goal was to have social media cut off Babylon Bee.
The Bee fought back.
And stung.
Hard.
On June 14, Fox reported, "The New York Times issued a correction after initially claiming the satirical website The Babylon Bee trafficked in misinformation, and the liberal paper now admits the site simply publishes satire.
"Fox News first reported earlier this year that Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon was considering legal action after the Times labeled the popular site of peddling fake news under the guise of satire and referred to it as a misinformation site.
"Dillon took to Twitter on Monday with an update after the Times emailed his attorney Friday that it would remove the offending language."
The correction said, "An earlier version of this article referred imprecisely to the Babylon Bee, a right-leaning satirical website, and a controversy regarding the handling of its content by Facebook and the fact-checking site Snopes. While both Facebook and Snopes previously have classified some Babylon Bee articles as misinformation, rather than satire, they have dropped those claims, and the Babylon Bee denies that it has trafficked in misinformation."
The campaign against Babylon Bee continues.
PJ Media reported, "On Thursday, the online integrated marketing company Mailchimp suspended Babylon Bee’s account, claiming that the system detected harmful information in the Bee’s emails. After Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon shared the news on Twitter, Mailchimp apologized. It was too late, however."
Dillon tweeted, "I’d email everyone to let them know [Mailchimp] just suspended our account but Mailchimp just suspended our account."
You would think that an outfit that has a winking monkey as its mascot would not be run by uptight people whose sphincters are too tight to pass a pea.
You would be wrong.
Babylon Bee makes us laugh. It also encourages us by fighting back and winning.
Now I am off to the store because the Bee just reported, "Bass Pro Shops Announces 2-for-1 Sale On All Nuclear Missiles."
