EU flips the bird to Xi

Hello friends wordentertainmen, on this occasion the admin wants to share an article entitled EU flips the bird to Xi, we have made good, quality and useful articles for you to read and take information in. hopefully the post content is about which we write you can understand. Alright, happy reading.

On September 16, 1976, Nelson Rockefeller presented the greatest moment in Vice Presidential History when he flipped the bird to hecklers in Binghamton, New York. President Ford had replaced him on the ticket with Bob Dole. The financially loaded Rockefeller just did not care anymore about the consequences.

The European Union is having its Nelson Rockefeller Moment as it tells Red China just what it thinks of it and Chairman Xi.

After covid 19, the Eurocrats in Brussels realize they have nothing left to lose. And Kris Kristofferson was right in "Me and Bobby McGee." Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose.

Katsuji Nakazawa is a Tokyo-based senior staff writer and editorial writer at Nikkei. He spent seven years in China as a correspondent and later as China bureau chief. He wrote a piece today that should warm the cockles of any patriotic American: "China loses Europe as Xi's hardline diplomacy backfires."

Nakazawa wrote, "The European Parliament has voted overwhelmingly to freeze the ratification process of an investment pact with China -- a deal that Beijing six months ago considered a big strategic victory.

"It has sent shock waves throughout China, with only one month and change before arguably the most important event in President Xi Jinping's era, the 100th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party's establishment, on July 1.

"Some party members are worried that the centenary's festive mood will be dampened by the harsh diplomatic reality. Not only are China's relations with the U.S. bad, but now EU relations are stuck in a ditch."

Hmm.

Chairman Xi may have some 'splainin' to do to the boys in Beijing.

The deal was 7 years in the making and meant to drive a wedge between Europe and the USA,

Nakazawa wrote, "But dark clouds are now hanging over the future of the investment pact. The European Parliament's decision on May 20 to put the pact on hold has made it difficult for the deal to take effect at an early date.

"China tried its best to salvage the deal, working until the last minute. On May 17, Premier Li Keqiang held telephone talks with Mario Draghi, telling his Italian counterpart, 'Both sides should work jointly to ensure that the China-EU agreement on investment will be signed and put into effect at an early date'."

Italy is pretty much a client state of Red China, which is hoping to use Italy to get the rest of Europe to sign on.

Maybe it will.

Maybe not

Nakazawa wrote, "Tensions between the EU and China over the latter's human rights issues had already reached a point where they cannot be resolved easily."

Slavery and concentration camps alone should make Red China an international pariah. Add its unleashing covid 19 upon the world, and you have a deal killer.

Lithuania dealt Chairman Xi a setback right to his face. Red China has formed a 17+1 group of old Soviet states and others in central and Eastern Europe countries. The group is meant to lean on Brussels, the headquarters of the European Union.

On May 22, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis announced his country was out.

The mouse roared.

Nakazawa reported, "A small country of fewer than 3 million people, Lithuania has played an outsize role in the recent EU-China tit-for-tat.

"In March, China slapped sanctions on 10 European individuals, including one Lithuanian member of parliament, in retaliation for the earlier EU sanctions against Beijing.

"But the sanctions barring entry into mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao have backfired."

Nakazawa said Chairman Xi is doubling down on his hardline diplomacy because he wants to keep his job.

This is a rare misstep for Red China, which has played Western politicians like a violin for decades. Maybe its duplicity finally caught up with Red China. Its unleashing of covid 19 may have been the wake-up call.

As for Nelson Rockefeller, Bob Dole replaced him on the 1976 ticket. A war hero who lost most of the use of his right arm in combat, Dole was on stage with Rockefeller when he gave the salute. Dole later said he would have joined in but "I have trouble with my right arm."

America today has no such excuse.
