*Three Types of Sliding Screen in my house*
You might be already familiar with these from somewhere or from my former post.
We haven't renewed the paper type of the sliding screen since then. Let me introduce three different types of them in our really small house again.
This page shows you beautiful variety of Japanese sliding door.
☆First one☆ Fusuma-type (Fusuma 襖)
As this type has ready-made design, we ask professionals to change the papers. Two of them on the right side are the sliding ones and bedding are in there. For left side one, we pull to open. This room is connected with next room.
☆Second one☆ Glass-type (glass fitted shoji; just called shoji)
We call second one and third one "Shoji 障子". This shoji separates two rooms.
☆Third one☆ Paper-type (paper fitted shoji; just called shoji)
Pictures of paper type shoji we've changed papers. I might be able to show you how terrible these were, haha decided not to.
How the changing paper work came out.
The work took almost whole day for us ;-)Pictures above are from only downstairs, we've changed 8 of them.
If we try to change paper by ourselves, we buy them from "do-it-yourself store"; they are rolled to make the work of putting them on the frame work of shoji "障子" easier. The pictures on the left are the one we bought. Normally changing after 5 years should be the standard or the best. 9 years has past since we changed them last. As I said, ours were such terrible condition and couldn't wait p;-)
